Sarah Christine Smith a former dancer and singer is telling her story about touring with Britney Spears. She spoke on the podcast Pod Meets World on July 13, 2025.
Smith used to be in a 90s girl group called Nobody’s Angel. But before that, she worked as a backup dancer. One of her first big jobs was dancing on Britney Spears very first mall tour.
Britney Spears Was Not Famous Yet
The mall tour happened in the late 1990s. Britney Spears was not yet a star. She performed in shopping malls across the United States. Not many people knew her name at the time.
“We would go shopping before the show” Smith said on the podcast. “We walked around the mall and no one stopped us”
After each short concert, Spears signed autographs for fans. Smith said the shows were small and simple. But that soon changed.
The Moment Britney Became a Star
Smith remembers the exact moment when Britney started getting famous.
“I called Jive Records and said I just heard her song on the radio”! Smith said.
From that day, Britney’s fame grew fast. Her first hit song “Baby One More Time” became a big success. Soon, everyone knew who Britney Spears was.
A Big Career Choice
At the same time, Smith had to make a hard choice. She could keep touring as a dancer with Britney or she could join a new girl group.
She chose to be a member of Nobody’s Angel. That meant she had to stop touring with Britney.
“It was a hard choice” she said. “Dancing for a big artist was one of my dreams”

Reuniting With Britney on Tour
Smith’s story with Britney did not end there. Nobody’s Angel became an opening act for Britney Spears later on. That meant they performed before Britney came on stage.
Smith also had a small part in the “Baby One More Time” music video.
Nobody’s Angel Had Brief Fame
In 1999, Nobody’s Angel appeared on the TV show Boy Meets World. They played fun versions of themselves.
In 2000, they released their only studio album. Disney also worked on a TV show for the group but it was never aired.
The group later broke up. Smith went back to dancing. In 2001 she danced with Britney again in a Pepsi commercial.
